Graduate Management Admission Test – GMAT

Graduate Management Admission Test or GMAT is a computer
based standardized test for the admission in graduate management programs for prestigious business school. The time duration of GMAT Entrance test is 3.5 hours.  The paper consists of quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, integrated reasoning and analytical writing. The scores obtained in this test is valid for 5 years. This test is offered multiple times in a year. 

Testing of AS and PSS

This test is conducted around 114 countries having about 600 test centers. The grade obtained in GMAT can be used in about 2100 universities in USA and other countries. According to GMAT Council this test does not test the knowledge of applicants but it is to test the analytical skill and problem –solving skill of the skills.

The GMAT score ranges from 200 to 800. The person who is willing to register from GMAT test, he has to pay 250 US dollars as registration fee or he/she contacts the test centers for registration. The test centers will enroll the test taker for a test. If he/she obtains the required points he/she will be eligible for various courses in different business schools. Around 2.5 lakh students appear for this test every year.

The mean GMAT score is around 540-550 out of 800. Any graduate can take this test. But one thing is most important –you are good in English spoken as well as written. Analytical writing is main thing where more emphasis should be given during preparation. More than 5000 programs are on offer.

GRE

GRE or Graduate Record Examination is also similar test like GMAT.  This is conducted by the Educational Testing Service. GRE exam also includes quantitative reasoning, analytical thinking, verbal reasoning, critical thing etc .

There is specific syllabus of study for this test. The cost of GRE test is 195 US dollars.

As far as scores are concerned now many business schools started considering the scores obtained by GRE for admissions. Now GMAT or GRE – both can be helpful for a test seekers to get admission in various business school where they can do MBA, Master of Finance, etc.
